Bro. Byron Gray Sr.
Byron Sebastian Gray, Sr. , was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 3, 2014. He was the son of the late Baron D’ Gray and Vendora W. Gray. He was born October 23, 1967 in Fort Belvoir, VA. Byron was baptized at an early age by Rev., Dr. D. E. Major at Straight Life Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, La. He later united in fellowship with Elm Grove Baptist Church in July of 2003 under the pastorate of Reverend Errol Domingue.
Byron graduated from Capitol Senior High School and attended Nicholls State University and Southern University and A & M College. He went on to pursue a career in law enforcement with the Louisiana State Police Department. Byron was an active member of the Louisiana National Guard Military Reserve serving with the Military Police in the 239th battalion. Byron was also an extremely active and dedicated member of the 3rd Masonic District.
Byron will live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed by many and leaves to cherish his memories and fulfill his legacy: a devoted parent, Vendora W. Gray; one faithful sister, Glennis P. Gray; one loving son, Byron S. Gray, II; one special friend, Jane A. Walker; one step-son, Devyn Price; girlfriend, Samantha Heard and her two sons (Mark Anthony & Isaac); two uncles, Robert I. Wilson (Mary Nell) and Daniel Wilson (Leona); one aunt, Nell Dawson (Nathaniel-deceased); three god children, Latoya R. Ramirez, Irvin J. Walker, Jasmine L. Harbor and Jenner Morgan; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Baron D’ Gray and wife Anne C. Gray.
